Get Involved:One Laptop, Per Child

January 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Did you know that the U.S. spends approximately $7500 on an annual basis per pupil and in developing countries they can barely spend $20 per year per pupil. Something is surely wrong with that picture. Well there is a non-profit company that has made it their mission to close that education gap. The name of the company is One LapTop, Per Child.

The mission of the One Laptop per Child association is to develop a low-cost laptop—the “$100 Laptop”—to revolutionize how we educate the world’s children. Our goal is to provide children around the world with new opportunities to explore, experiment, and express themselves. Why do children in developing nations need laptops? Laptops are a window and a tool: a window into the world and a tool with which to think. They are a wonderful way for all children to learn learning through independent interaction and exploration.

Check out the One Laptop per Child website to find out ways you can get involved!
