“Underground Railroad” Black History Month Nike Air Max 90

February 7, 2008 · 3 Comments

Nike has taken the biggest step amongst all footwear companies to celebrate and honor African American heroes and African American history. Nike will be releasing a special edition Nike Air Max 90 to celebrate Black History Month. These kicks have been given the nickname “The Underground Railrod” Air Max 90s. The two insoles form a map showing the slave states of the south with routes of the underground railroad that lead to freedom. Pics thanks to JtotheC from ISS.

“Nike has taken the biggest step amongst all footwear companies to celebrate and honor African American heroes and African American history. ”

Nike will be making millions of dollars from this publicity stunt. Millions that could be really used for the the benefit of humanity. We as African Americans need to invest in something other than Nike and other super african-american patronizing companies like Nike. I haven’t read the background on this product, but I will. Who will the procedes benefit?

You bring up a very interesting point. I did a little research and found out those shoes cost $225 a piece, but no where do I see any contribution. I will also be looking into this. Thanks for the input.
