PostModern Habitation

February 2, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I love postmodern, prefab and eco-conscious architecture, as opposed to one size fit all suburban homes. So from time to time I’ll share with you some of my findings out on the web of the latest home designs that are emerging.

Nigger…

February 1, 2008 · 2 Comments

Got your attention? Good.
Legendary Hip-hop artist Nasir Jones, better known as Nas is gearing up to make noise in the industry. Building a momentum of 17 years in the game and following-up “Hip-Hop is Dead”;Nas is dropping his 9th album, and his most anticipated production to date entitled, “Nigger”. His intention is set to provoke change, not controversy with the album name. When asked why “Nigger”, Nas response is he wants to take the sting out of a word that has scarred the conscience of white and black America for hundreds of years.

Nigga Please…
I have to be honest. I love it. I can feel where he is coming from. In today’s world where people’s attention span is very little, sometime you have to use shock tactics to get people’s attention. And attention he got as expected, upon hearing about the potential album name the NAACP and Rev. Jesse Jackson addressed Nas by saying that the title was making a “mockery of racism”. Nas responded by challenging the civil rights activist, “it’s time for a 21st century approach to change, because all the marching is ineffective.” He went as far as saying he was going to buy Rev. Al Sharpton a new pair of gators, cause he knows Al Sharpton’s shoes are worn from all the marching. (You didn’t have to go there Nas) Though I respect those that paved the way for African-Americans and there is alot we can learn from our forefathers, however I agree there is a need for a 21st century approach for change nowadays. That is what this blog is all about, a 21st Century approach that gives you and I an opportunity to amplify our voices globally.

Nigga on the Cross
Let’s face it everybody wants a fresh start, it’s in the air and entering all our hearts at the same time. Collectively the desire to take personal and national responsibility to clean up the mess we got ourselves in is rising and Nas has caught the wind of it and is turning a new leaf. Focusing on rap that awakens the consciousness of its listeners in white and black America and away from the radio-play rap that corrupts the air waves. Truthfully, we all need to watch this deragatory word be nailed to the cross so it will bring about reconcilliation between all people that have been affected by it. So we can be ushered into the New America.

From Revolution to Resolution
We must move from being revolution-minded to resolution-minded. No longer is it good enough to revolt against the “system” and the “powers that be”, but we must resolve against it. History shows us that revolutions are cyclical always coming back around and never resolved. On the other hand, a resolution brings things to a determined end. The case is closed. I believe Nas came to a resolution to take the responsibility of such a high call in an attempt to take the sting out of the word Nigger. I’m sure it did not happen over night. I can imagine being in the game and watching it crumple before your eyes, because you are a part of it. It wasn’t enough to title an album “F— White America!”, that would have started a revolt, which would have not solved anything. We saw that already with NWA’s “F—the Police”, which caused a little stir and did not put an end to white cops beating blacks. It probably got worst after that. My prayer is that the concept of the album sparks a resolve for repentance and forgiveness.

The Resolution Will Not Be Televised
Resolution is the New Beginning. Its time that we resolve within ourselves that change is necessary. Resolve to tie up all your loose ends. Resolve to finish what you started. Resolve to get your house in order. Resolve to get out of debt. Because if you stay in debt you will remain in fear, and if you remain in fear you will always be controlled, subdued and silenced by the outside forces. So resolve not to be scared anymore. Resolve to step out in Faith. Resolve not to be a Nigger(Ignorant) anymore. Now we are ready to move forward. Believe me I’m speaking to myself as well. Be apart of the Resolution!

Jay-Z “Pray” Video Premiere

January 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I wondered if this song was inspired by Jay-Z’s girlfriend Beyonce, who is a professed Christian. She is the women praying in the background on the track. I pray that Jay-Z finds the Lord through his own song. Before you press play, take a second to pray for Jay-Z and Beyonce.

[Beyoncé]
Deliver me from my enemies, O’ God.
Defend me from those that rise up against me.
Deliver me from the work of iniquity.
Save me from the brethren.

[Beyoncé]
Because of Your strength, while I walked upon Thee.
For God is my defense.

[Beyoncé]
The name shall endure forever.
The name shall be continued as long as the Son.

[Choir]
Pray for me!

[Beyoncé]
Men shall be blessed in Him.
All nations shall call Him blessed.
In Your name I Pray.

[Choir]
Pray for me!

[Beyoncé]
Lord bless Him.
